The first edition of PIXEL opens with the theme of the boundary between representation and reality, reflecting on digital archives and the preservation of memory in the era of generative algorithms.

This theme extends to other areas of reflection, such as digital identity and the latent forms of control through the creation of new patterns for representing reality. Such dystopias have already been the foundation of artistic experimentation in the late 20th century, which challenged the very idea of reality and its manipulation.

 

The selected works (short films, documentaries, feature films, video art, etc.) address the issue of image overload, their omnipresence, and the possibility that they can be processed at any moment, with the resulting risk of compromising the perception of reality.
